LaVieVuLinh is not a resort, but an ecolodge and a school, and the spirit is in between homestay and lodge. The team is composed by youngsters of several families from the villages around. The difference is that it is possible for the visitors to communicate directly with the villagers and staff of LaVieVuLinh project, because they learn English and French at our school.
However the spirit remains the same; we favorise the cultural exchanges by sharing all the natural moments of a day, meals, discovery activities, cooking, drinks, sometimes ceremonies, and even some everyday work like trees care, building a traditional boat, or painting. If there is a request, we can hire local artists for some simple representations, but most of the time, we interact with the local culture more than “watch it”.
In few words, LaVieVuLinh, held by Fredo Binh (also manager of the travel agency Freewheelin’ Tours, Mr. Thuong (master of ceremony of the village) and his wife Mrs. Nhat (expert in medicinal plants), is a sustainable development project acting in 3 main fields: education, environment, eco-tourism.
- Education: our team is mostly composed by local young apprentices. In order to train them and to get them involved directly in the development of the project, we have built a school to teach foreign languages, computing, accounting…
- Environment: the project aims to be an ecological model for the region, by planting fruit trees, treating water, producing bio gaz. The lodge is “eco” also because we built it mostly with natural material (wood, bamboo, rammed earth, palm leaves for the roof…), and we use as little concrete as we can.
- Tourism: the part that supports economically the project. We reinvest this money to offer prime quality facilities for visitors to discover our region. Benefits also cover the school and the ecological actions expenses.
